Shops, services and online sellers

Three sales channels, one bank account.

Money arrives from the shop, the website and the marketplace, minus fees that differ on each, landing in one account as a payout that matches none of the orders it came from. Somewhere in there is the answer to which channel is actually worth the effort.

Stop keying the same order twice

The order already exists somewhere. The problem is getting it into the books with the fee attached and the payout reconciled.

Orders come in

Sales import from Stripe and your order channels, so the same order isn't typed a second time — and the processor's fee is booked as a cost rather than quietly reducing what you think you sold.

The payout reconciles

A processor pays out in batches that don't match individual orders. Import the bank statement and it matches against what's already entered, with several receipts banked together shown the way the bank actually shows them.

Stock, if you hold it

Levels, average costing, barcodes and guided cycle counts — with every adjustment posting a real ledger entry, so what your stock is worth on the balance sheet is derived rather than typed in.

Which channel is worth it

Revenue by channel is easy. Profit by channel is the one that changes what you do on Monday.

Because fees, refunds and costs all post to the same journal as the sales, the reports come out of one place. Departments let you segment the books by site or line of work, and job costing does the same for service businesses that quote work rather than sell stock.

Underneath all of it are real books — which is why the channel report, the profit and loss and the balance sheet agree.

What we don't do

  • We don't take payments for you. SutorBooks never holds, moves or lends money — it keeps the record of it. Your processor stays your processor.
  • No automatic bank feeds. Statements are imported from a file you download.
  • USD only. If you sell in several currencies, the ledger will refuse rather than half-support it.
  • No sales-tax filing. We produce the return figures; filing them is yours or your accountant's.
