A real ledger underneath. Out of your way on top.
SutorBooks is double-entry accounting software for small businesses and the trades. Send the invoice, snap the receipt, import the statement — every one of those posts a proper accounting record behind the scenes, which is why your profit and loss, your balance sheet and your cash flow can never disagree with each other.
Money in
Quote it, bill it, get paid for it, and know who's late.
Invoicing and payments
Estimates that convert to invoices without retyping, recurring schedules, payments, credit memos, customer statements and a receivables aging that tells you who owes what and for how long.
More on invoicing →Job costing and time
Log hours against a job and bill them onto the invoice. Costs and revenue land on the same job, so profit per job is a number you can look up instead of a feeling you have.
More on job costing →Reporting
Profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, trial balance, aging, general ledger and job profitability — all derived from the journal itself rather than assembled from subledgers afterwards.
More on reporting →Money out, and the bank
What you owe, when it's due, and making the bank agree with your books at the end of the month.
Bills and vendors
Vendor bills, recurring bills, purchase orders through receiving, vendor credits, payables aging and batch payment runs. Plus 1099 reporting — we are not a filing service.
More on bills →Expenses and receipts
Record what you spent and what it was for, with the receipt attached to the entry rather than in a drawer.
Add-on Receipt Scanning photographs a receipt and fills in the date, amount and vendor for you.
More on expenses →Banking and reconciliation
Import your statement and it matches transactions against the invoices and bills you've already entered. A transfer between your own accounts stays one movement, not two. Rules learn the categories you keep setting by hand.
More on banking →The platform underneath
The parts nobody demos, and the ones your accountant asks about first.
More than one business, one login
Several companies under a single account, five levels of permission, and an audit trail recording what a figure was before someone changed it as well as after. Accountant and read-only seats never count against your package, so bringing a bookkeeper in costs nothing — on any package, including Free.
Multi-company and teams →It installs on your phone
Add SutorBooks to your home screen and it opens like any other app — no app store, nothing to download. Invoice from the driveway, photograph the receipt at the parts counter, and it's the same set of books you left open on the desk.
More on mobile →Stock, if you carry it
Stock levels, average costing, barcodes, guided cycle counts, reorder points and valuation — with every adjustment posting a real ledger entry rather than quietly changing a number.
Add-on Inventory sits on top of any package.
More on inventory →The ledger itself
A full chart of accounts, journal entries, closed-period locking, reclassification, opening balances for moving in, a proper period close, and debits that must equal credits at the moment of posting. Fixed assets depreciate into the ledger. Departments segment it.
Part of every packageWhat we don't do
Said here rather than discovered in month three. If one of these is what you need, we would rather you knew now.
- No payroll. We don't run it and we don't file it.
- No tax filing, tax advice or audit protection. We are not a CPA and not a filing service. 1099 reporting is real; 1099 filing is not.
- No automatic bank feeds. Statements are imported — you'll download a file from your bank rather than connecting an account.
- US dollars only. The ledger keeps books in USD and refuses anything else.
- We never hold, move or lend your money. SutorBooks keeps the record of it.
Build. We'll handle the books.
