Tell us where the close process is wrong.
SutorBooks isn't open for signup yet, which means the chart of accounts, the period close, the audit trail and the exports can all still change. If you work in other people's books for a living, this is the useful moment to look at ours.
Your seat is free. On every package, including Free.
Accountant and read-only seats do not count against a client's people number on any tier. A client never pays for you to help them, and you never have to ask them to upgrade so you can do your job.
Multi-client, one login
Several companies under a single account, switched between rather than signed in and out of. Five roles — owner, admin, bookkeeper, accountant, viewer — so what each person can reach is a decision rather than an accident.
The close
Period close as a first-class workflow, not just a lock. Closed periods stay closed and posted entries are immutable, so corrections go in as reversing entries and history is never rewritten. Reclassification moves entries between accounts properly, after the fact.
Getting data in and out
Opening balances for bringing a client across mid-year. Reports to PDF and CSV. And a full company export — your client's books are theirs, and they can take them out whenever they want.
What you'd expect to find, and will
- A full chart of accounts and manual journal entries.
- Debits equal credits, enforced at posting — not validated afterwards.
- Trial balance and general ledger, with every figure tracing back to the entries behind it.
- Cash flow classified by nature under ASC 230, rather than approximated.
- Statement of changes in equity, receivables and payables aging, job profitability, sales tax return figures, 1099 summary and detail.
- Fixed assets with depreciation posting to the ledger, and departments for segmenting a company's books.
- An audit trail recording before and after values, and who changed them — including when our own staff access an account to help.
And what you won't
- No payroll. Not built, not claimed.
- No tax filing. 1099 reporting is real; filing is yours. We are not a CPA and not a filing service.
- No automatic bank feeds. Statements are imported from a file.
- USD only. The ledger refuses anything else rather than half-supporting it.
- No partner program yet. No certification, no directory listing, no revenue share. If those matter to you, they don't exist — and we'd rather say so than let you find out after you moved a client.
Why we're asking now
Every decision on this list is easier to change before there are customers in it. Once real books are sitting on a chart of accounts, on a close process, on an export format, those choices harden — and the people best placed to tell us they're wrong are the ones who will have to work in them.
So: look at the reports, look at what the close actually does, and tell us what would make this unusable in practice. We would rather hear it now.
